North City Church is stepping into a defining moment. As our church has grown, so have our opportunities and our limitations. We are outgrowing our current space and believe it is time to establish a permanent home that allows us to serve more people, more effectively throughout the week-not just on Sundays.

The Problem

We're Outgrowing Our Space

Sanctuary Capacity

250

Current Seats

Our current sanctuary has seating for 250 attendees. Within the last 6 months alone, our sanctuary attendance has averaged 237 people, with peak attendance reaching 303 attendees.

Children's Capacity

50

Current Capacity

Our current children's classrooms can accommodate up to 50 kids. In the last year, the average classroom attendance has been 46 children with certain classrooms having to turn away children because capacity was reached.

Campaign Goals: $1.5 Million

Increase Sunday Capacity

Provide a long-term space for North City Church; including a sanctuary of 600 seats, as well as a children's ministry capable of hosting 150 kids every Sunday.

Increase Community Impact

We believe that churches are frequently underutilized during the week. Additional space will allow us to engage, serve, and extend hospitality in ways that help our community thrive.

The Seven Pillars

We believe that churches are frequently underutilized from Monday-Saturday. By creating additional space within our church building, we plan to use our facility more fully to engage, serve, and show hospitality to our community while supporting Seven Pillars of a flourishing community.

What does this capital campaign fund cover?

North City is raising funds for the purchase and necessary renovations of a building here in our community.

Where/what can I expect our next building to be like?

At this point we do not have a specific building in sight. That being said, there are a few key things we are looking for. First, we want a building that stays relatively close to our current location. Second, our goal is to identify a space that the church can grow into. This looks like a sanctuary that could seat 600-800 people (staying at one service) with plenty of room for our children's ministry. Finally, we want a space that aligns with our goals to serve our community well and partner with other groups that can come alongside us in that. This likely will involve renovations to the purchased building to ensure the space meets everyone's needs. These long term goals will continue to be shaped over the coming years and we promise to continue to communicate with our congregation as time goes on.

How did we come up with $1.5 million as our target?

In an effort to be wise and discerning with Kingdom funds, we have identified a variety of buildings similar to what we are interested in and spoken with local real estate experts. The amount of $1.5M would allow the purchase of that building, while covering renovations or future improvements with a loan from a church partner or future donations.

Where can I give?

You can give or pledge using the buttons at the top of this page. Click "Give to the Campaign" to donate now, or "Make a Pledge" to commit to a future gift.

How does a pledge work?

Unlike a cash or asset donation, a pledge is a promise to donate a sum of money or asset at some date in the future, or at multiple intervals in the future. Please use the Make a Pledge button at the top of this page to complete our pledge form.

If I already give monthly, should I include that monthly amount in my pledge?

We are extremely thankful for the way the Lord has provided and continues to provide for our church. Our monthly giving provides for church expenses and the benevolence fund. We depend on these gifts as we budget our year and plan with ministry partners. Because of this, we would ask that you do not take away any donations that you are giving monthly, to pledge to the building campaign. Our prayer is that our congregation would consider if there are additional funds the Lord is leading them to give to this building campaign - and that current monthly gifts will continue so that we can ensure the health of our church and ability to come alongside local and distant church partners.

Can I gift appreciated assets?

Yes! Please contact Jordan at finance@northcity.us to coordinate your gift.

I'm over the age of 70 1/2 - can I gift out of my IRA?

If you are 70 1/2 or older, your donation to North City from your IRA is considered a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) - making it a tax-free donation. In addition, a QCD can satisfy, or partially satisfy, your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for those over the age of 73. Please mail your QCD checks to the church, payable to North City Church and place "Building Fund" in the memo line. We recommend also speaking with your tax advisor.

What about planned giving and/or legacy gifting?

We know that, for many, planning for the future includes planning for the community and causes you are passionate about. We would love to discuss ways to do this if you are considering North City in your planning. Please reach out to building@northcity.us to get the conversation started.

When would you like pledges in by?

We would love for our church community to prayerfully spend the summer considering how the Lord may be asking you to give. Our goal would be for pledges to come in by August 31st so that we can give our congregation an update in our September family meeting.

What if I know people who could contribute who are not in our church community?

We would love the opportunity to share about our vision here at North City and how we believe this building is a part of our Kingdom work. This work is, by no means, restricted to our North City family! We believe that there are many others who share our vision and that mutual goals will lead to some amazing partnerships. If you have connections outside of North City who share our vision, we would love to discuss how we can impact our Indianapolis community, together. Please reach out to building@northcity.us to share any individuals or companies you think we should connect with and we will go from there!

Who should I reach out to if I have questions?

Do you have questions, ideas, or concerns? Interested in hosting an event or gathering at your house to help us reach our goals? Want to get involved or use your giftings in some capacity to help this campaign? Please reach out to Kristen Shaw at building@northcity.us and we will ensure your question is answered by the right person!
